My grandparents


We had a Buddhist memorial survice for my grandparents at my uncle's house yesterday.
My grandfather passed away in April 16 years ago and his wife passed away last March.
After memorial survice, we had lunch and had a good time together.

    it should be :

    We had a Buddhist memorial SERVICE for my grandparents at my uncle's house yesterday.
    My grandfather passed away ON April 16, IT WAS years ago and his wife passed away last March.
    After memorial SERVICE, we had lunch and had a good time together.

    Well, my grandfather passed away in April 7, 1993. So, what should I say "April" and "16 years ago"?
